How long will a power station run an electric blanket?
A double electric blanket drawing 100 W runs about 4.3 hours (4 h 15 min) on a 500 Wh power station at 85% efficiency — about 8.5 hours on a 1,000 Wh unit.
How to work it out
- 500 Wh = 500 Wh available
- 100 W ÷ 85% inverter = 117.6 W
- 500 Wh ÷ 117.6 W = 4.3 hours (4 h 15 min)
Virginia Cooperative Extension lists electric blankets at 60 W (single) and 100 W (double). That makes them one of the cheapest ways to stay warm on battery power — a fraction of a space heater’s draw.

Getting a whole night from a small battery
- The control cycles. Many blanket controls switch the heat on and off on lower settings, so once the bed is warm the average can be well below the label watts. Set the duty under More options if you have measured it.
- Pre-warm, then turn down. An hour on high and the rest of the night on low uses much less than high all night.
- 12 V blankets skip the inverter. A 12 V heated blanket on the DC port avoids the inverter loss and idle draw.
- Compare the heater. A 1,500 W space heater empties a 1,000 Wh station in about 34 minutes — see how long a power station runs a space heater.
For a CPAP on the same battery overnight, see how long a 100Ah battery runs a CPAP. What it costs on the grid is on the cost to run a ceiling fan — small loads, small bills.
